Meet Maizie!

Thanks to our incredible fosters who stepped up, we saved Maizie from the shelter just before her deadline! ❤️ Here’s what her foster had to say…

Maizie is a very affectionate, energetic, and entertaining dog with a big personality. She loves being with people and gets along well with other dogs. She greets you with her big brown eyes, hugs, plenty of kisses, and a smile.

She really enjoys treats, meal time, and catches treats in midair with an adorable little hop.

Maizie knows some basic commands and is eager to learn more, as long as there are treats. She walks well on a leash. She’s an impressive jumper and enjoys checking out what’s on the kitchen counter.

It was a bit intimidating at first, but she loves to stare at you and be touching a human. If I was sitting in a chair, she would just come up and stare at me and let me just pet her head and ears. She would also sort of roll on her back and just hand me her paw to hold. I sat through an entire work meeting holding her paw.

She is definitely a hunter, there were a couple of squirrels that she saw and those were the only times I had to really hold onto the leash and she would drag me. She also would bark and pull to see other dogs on our couple of walks, the walk would be mostly loose leash but if she saw another dog in the distance she got very excited.

Loud noises like car doors shutting sometimes spooked her, and she would drop to the ground, but she never ran from them. During a thunderstorm, she hid under the desk with one of my other dogs who is also afraid of thunder.

She was a great dog, I don’t how she acted at the shelter, but when I was leaving I had a family ask about her. Even when she was coming out of anesthesia, she was sniffing around and interacting with me. They said all the dogs they saw were super timid and just hid behind someone. So I don’t think anyone has gotten a chance to see her loving personality.

She is VERY skinny and will need a lot of love and care to get her to a healthy spot.
