Meet Jeri!
Jeri is a sweet 6-year-old, 20-pound girl currently being fostered in Washington, DC, and she’s ready to find her forever home. Originally rescued from a North Carolina shelter, Jeri has shown just how resilient and loving she is as she settles into her foster home.
Jeri is the kind of dog who will quietly steal your heart, and she has plenty of love and life to share.
Reflections in the glass front door and in mirrors befuddle her. Even the screen of a TV that isn’t on. “I’m guessing that’s a fairly common reaction for dogs who have lived outside,” her foster mom says. “but today I heard some barking/whining in the next room. She was reacting to the face of Piper, the dog of the month in the BRSM calendar! I took the calendar off the wall and showed her it was not an actual dog, but she still seemed kind of rattled.”
She has figured out a weakness in her fosters’ back fence and has gotten out a couple of times, but she doesn’t go far — she stays in the neighbors yard, which has really big bramble patches. She has also climbed the chain link in the fence and used a fallen tree trunk to get to those bramble patches — safe to say she lives nature!
She’s not a fan of loud noises and seems wary of people, especially men. She is also just not all that treat-motivated, but she loves her food. She often wags her tail while she’s eating, which is adorable.
