Meet Big Girl!

Big Girl is a sweet senior beagle, estimated to be around 9–10 years old, who is ready to enjoy the good life in a loving home. After years as a hunting companion, she is settling in beautifully and showing everyone what a gentle, happy girl she is.

She weighs about 31 pounds and is a sturdy, short-legged beagle, possibly with a bit of basset mixed in. Big Girl is very docile, easygoing, and friendly with just about everyone she meets. She does well with young children, older children, adults, and seniors alike. She also loves playing with other dogs and has a friendly, social nature.

Her foster family reports that one of the nicest surprises has been how smart she is. Big Girl is already dog-door trained and has not had an accident in over a week, including overnight. She clearly knows where to go and seems to be house-trained in a dog-door setup. As always, we never promise house-training is a sure thing in a new home, since dogs sometimes need time to adjust and may have a restart period, but she has done extremely well.

She is also great on a lead and enjoys a good walk. When she sees other dogs, she makes the most adorable little whimper because she wants to say hello. She is not much of a barker, and her foster family has only heard her bark a few times, usually when other dogs are around.

Big Girl is also wonderfully gentle around food and treats. She is not food aggressive and will even let you take a bone out of her mouth without any fuss. More than anything, she is a happy baby girl who wants to be near people, feel safe, and enjoy her next chapter.

If you are looking for a calm, loving, dog-friendly companion with a soft spirit and a sweet face, Big Girl may be your girl.
